The Burgenland district is the southernmost district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. In the east it borders on Saxony and in the south and west on Thuringia. The hilly landscape is shaped by the rivers Saale, Unstrut and Weißer Elster. Wine is grown in this so-called Saale-Unstrut region. This is marketed internationally.
