The approximately 3700 to 4000 year old Nebra Sky Disc is on display in Nebra. The Burgenland district has many cultural highlights. Among them is the district town of Naumburg (Saale) with the Naumburg Cathedral, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the east it borders on Saxony. In the west and south it borders on Thuringia. In almost every village in the Burgenland district there are buildings that bear witness to the approximately thousand-year history of settlement. Among them are many Romanesque and Gothic churches, old manor houses and windmills.
