The very hilly landscape is shaped by the 3 rivers Saale, Unstrut and Weißer Elster. In the Saale-Unstrut region, viticulture is practiced, which is marketed to tourists. In Zeitz, next to Moritzburg Castle, there are museums about the industrial history of the city.
